31 Day Nail Challenge – Day 3 – Yellow Nails

So I called these Viva because the colors reminded me of the TV channel – a quick Google search proves I was wrong but I still think the name fits. These are a matt yellow, with a sponged on neon pink. Quite the clashing yet still funky

The thing I like most about matt polishes, is that they dry really fast – I’m that impatient! These are beyond simple, seriously!

  • Paint on your basecolour – yellow in this case. Doesn’t have to be a matt, but the shine/no-shine contrasts adds that extra touch
  • Paint some of your second color onto a spare surface (shiny ones are best)
  • Take a small piece of sponge (washing up / make up sponge), and dab it into your polish
  • Dab the sponge on your nails, building up the paint nearer the tip

Depending on how messy you are or how big your sponge is, you may want to be dramatic and tape off the edges of your nails, but you generally need to do a cleanup anyway.. If you don’t do clean ups or don’t know what one is, please pay this a visit, it is an infinitely important part of your mani!  The Beauty Department’s Clean Up Guide

This technique can be used regardless of color combo, so play around with nudes/neons (as per yesterday), nudes/blacks, clashing or complimentary colors!
